When I was growing up, there weren't any cell phones and sahms didn't always stay at home all the time by the phone, at least ime....there were a number of windows where the sahm was less available than someone who was working with an office job with a land line.
i think there's a difference between critical, life threatning and say, playground injury like what happened to my then preschooler a few years ago..i was available by phone and would have been angry had they taken it upon themselves to call 911 or rush him to the hsopital themselves.
