When I was growing up, there weren't any cell phones and sahms didn't always stay at home all the time by the phone, at least ime....there were a number of windows where the sahm was less available than someone who was working with an office job with a land line.

It seems so long ago, only land lines, lol.

It wasn't that long ago. That was the life I lived as a SAHM (1983-1995).

I have no idea. I guess they could try the phone book. There are relatives, but not anyone I could impose on to that extent.

a cell battery dying, being unavailable is as remote of a possibility as the situation itself.

for sake of debate i'm going to disagree some.

i think there's a difference between critical, life threatning and say, playground injury like what happened to my then preschooler a few years ago..i was available by phone and would have been angry had they taken it upon themselves to call 911 or rush him to the hsopital themselves.
