The point was that this thread is getting out of control on what if's and people are trying to make themselves look better by stating the amount of people they have to take care of their kids if need be and putting others down who don't.

I don't think having family nearby is a blessing.
I think what is a blessing is having family that you want to live near.
Neither DH and I have had any desire to live near our extended families.
