Fashion "Rules"

Talking about wedding guest attire has made me realize a lot of the fashion guidelines I was raised with are pretty much outdated these days.  Things like guys not wearing  ball caps indoors, women wearing white only between Memorial Day and Labor Day, no LBDs before 5 pm, and hose with every outfit are gone.  Do you adhere to any of these guidelines anymore?  Are there any fashion guidelines you DO adhere to?

What kind of link are you looking for?  Experiences of many different RCCs, experiences and observations from others - even those on this board support my claim.

No, no, no that is not good enough Jams. You need to find some scientific research, don't you know. Not by ACTUAL experiences. Undecided I have been to the local Lutheran church and I can tell you that they dress very casual too for Sunday mass. Do I know what they did years ago, no, but I do know what they do now.

Not just a geographic thing either spring. But hey, If there's a link to support otherwise I'm more than ready to read it..

I have been to a RCC in another state too, another pretty casual crowd but dare I use that experience.

Lol, I don't know.  But she thought my op was a joke so I think the ball is in her court to prove otherwise...   :)

Well, unless we're talking skirts (and very well lined ones, at that) I don't wear white at all. Not between Memorial Day/Labor Day nor any other time.  Oh, and my workout shoes are white, but those are indoors only for my workout space.

I do still believe in wearing slips, especially given how sheer skirt fabrics have become in this day and age.  Far too many "fashion forward" women are out and about these days showing off all their goodies because they have never actually seen themselves in the skirts they think hide everything down to the knees.  Also, the idea that you don't wear dark panties (or even more atrociously, thongs) with light colored skirts that they never bothered to find an appropriate slip for.  So klassy.

I don't wear hose unless it's a wedding where my Mom will be going, because it just makes her crazy and I love her :)

I *did* wear the LBD to the Infamous Pink and Orange Feather wedding, even though it was a 4pm start, but the  rest of it was later than 5 so I took a risk :)

Back to the idea of slips; I'm thinking of beginning to make some of my own from muslin.  When I can find a slip anymore, they're always of that cheap fabric that becomes static-y if you even look at another fabric simultaneously and then they wad up around your waist; I actually put fishing line sinkers on the hem of one slip to keep it in place.   100% cotton is starting to sound better and better.

Who has atual experience? She claimed that the RCC is the most casual church.... I challenged that statement.  She hasn't offered any proof based on experience or otherwise.

Now who's being mean? Awwwwe. Lol.

And why do you consider it harrassment to expect her (or anyone else) to back up her statements? In case you have forgotten, this is a debate board, and if one makes a claim, they should be prepared to support it, using evidence .....
