1. When you get heavy rains, do you get floods in your home or on your street?

2. What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

3. Do you light candles at home and what is your favorite scent?

You're 60 or almost there, right bordwithyou? What number of people your age prefer texting or facebook messages to a real phone or voice communication? Curious.
I have no idea. I have friends of all ages with whom I communicate over fb or text. For instance, today I rescheduled a coffee date with an 80 year old over a fb message. I don't even know her cell phone number, and she's on vacation, so it wouldn't have done me any good to call her house.

No, you have been speaking about what people NEED to do all day, and nobody and you are the only ones who were talking about NEED over and over again. I gave you an example (we like to get together) and I just gave you the same example again (we like to get together), you just don't read and retain that memory from post to post, you are much more caught up in what nobody is saying.

Given that your own child in your words is literally on her phone all the time, every day....it clearly isn't a problem for you.

Why would you assume (again) that everyone is available via phone at the same time as the person calling?

First of all, I already said that they do NOT all use electronic calendars. If they did, it would be easier. If I am setting a date for a dinner party, and not trying to make a date where all the people the guest of honor wants there, I will just pick a date and send out invitations. In this case, my son would really like all his aunts, uncles, and cousins to be able to attend his going away party. So I am trying to get the date that is most convenient for all nine people. It has taken multiple phone calls, and we are not there yet. If I could sync everyone's calendar, it would be much easier.

Personally, I would never allow someone to do that on my calendar (if I used it). If someone invites them to view a calendar, then it is not intruding.

Lol, That makes me laugh - not at the 80 year old but this visual of an old woman texting or on facebook, God love her! But thanks, I asked b/c IMO/E texting/even fb stuff is more of a generational thing than it is something I see a lot of older people > 60 or 70 do. I shouldn't speak anymore about that b/c MIL at 78 or 79 is always on facebook, Lol!

I also picked the resturant from google based on the route traveled by the guest....

I know a lot of older people who find that social media really helps with the feeling of isolation. The only one left in the older generation in my mother's side of the family is my aunt who must be 81 or 82 now. She's been pretty much housebound in her retirement community since he had a hip operation earlier this summer and she checks facebook every day. She comments on everything her children and grandchildren are doing, then she makes it to the nieces and nephews, and some days to the great-nieces and nephews. She has trouble doing anything more complicated than simple commenting, and will sometimes say she has to get her daughter to do things like help her look at my pictures, or whatever, but I think fb really gives her a lot of pleasure.

I've heard or read something about video games helping prevent or slow down alzheimers.

My dad is in his late 80s mind you but I don't know anybody that age that is into social media like the younger generation is.
