Whole milk: 2%, 1%, skim, or?

I don't drink milk. Dh and the kids drink 2%, but they don't drink much either. A gallon of milk lasts about 2 weeks. Costco sells a 1% ultra pasteurized milk that is really good, so I buy that when I'm there. It doesn't have that watery consistency that 1% usually has, so you can use it for cooking and such. It's very creamy for a 1%.

Rice: white or brown, or...?

I prefer black wild rice (it's black when it's dry, pops open and white on the inside when you cook it.) Dh has been on a Thai food kick lately, so he makes Thai sticky rice in his fancy cone shaped bamboo steamer basket... LOL.

Bread: white, wheat, or...?

Depends. I usually have a loaf of sourdough and a loaf of multi-grain. I buy whole grain white for PB&J.

Pasta: white flour, egg, or whole grain, or?

I make my own, usually. I usually use unbleached flour.

Breakfast cereal: fruit loops or grapenuts, or?

Frosted mini wheats. Kids love it, sometimes you just gotta go with what works.

Meat: beef, chicken, pork, lamb or?

All of those, minus the lamb. Add turkey.

Fish: tuna, sword, salmon, cod, or...?

Yes. We eat a LOT of fish in this house. Salmon, cod, trout, mahi mahi, tuna, etc, and just about any shellfish.

Fruit?

Always have apples and bananas. Right now we also have a honeydew melon and a pineapple. Depends on what looks good and is in season.

Vegetable?

All the regulars. The odd ones we eat a lot of are baby bok choy, brussel sprouts, and leeks.

Guilty pleasure?

Dark chocolate, bacon salt. And bacon. Man, bacon is good.

I held off on the skim (used 1%) for a long time because of family protests. When the kids moved out I finally made the switch. I don't know if DH even noticed as he never mentioned it. DD2 stayed here to dog sit while we were out of town. I thought that she might buy her own milk rather than drink the skim, but surprising she did drink the skim..

It's totally weird, my kids LOVE brussel sprouts. They beg me to make them all the time.

Whole milk: 2%, 1%, skim, or? Only 1%

Rice: white or brown, or...? White--I don't make it often. I'm planning on trying out brown. I bought a bag of white & brown mixed but didn't like it--they need to cook for different amounts of time, evidnetly.

Bread: white, wheat, or...? Wheat

Pasta: white flour, egg, or whole grain, or? whole grain

Breakfast cereal: fruit loops or grapenuts, or?
I eat Fiber One cereal and dh likes Raisin bran w/grapenuts mixed in. Kids eat cheerios and chex cereal. We vary with other cerasls for them too--try not to get sugary ones.
Meat: beef, chicken, pork, lamb or?
All those except lamb, add in turkey occasionally and moose meat often. Now that is organic.
Fish: tuna, sword, salmon, cod, or...? salmon & halibut, both caught in the bay in front of my parents' cabin.

Fruit? We keep on hand usually bananas, oranges, apples, and buy cut up containers of various melons and pineapple. We also usually have blueberries, strawberries, kiwis around. Probably some more, depending on the season.

Vegetable? Always keep on hand onions, green onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, carrots, celery & potatoes. Also buy many others to eat in recipes that I'm going to make would be broccoli, eggplant, corn, peas, green beans, asparagus etc.

Guilty pleasure? dark chocolate & bacon.
