So I heard a lot of chanting at school yesterday about tomorrow (today) being pay day, Woot!  Ha, That doesn't mean a lot to me but some of those teachers make good money and b/w that and the slip ins about money in a couple threads here I thought a thread would be fun..

How often are you/your DH paid

Do you discuss finances with your children?  To what extent?

Are you a spender or a saver

Where do you draw the line Peachy of being a maid and being a mother and wife?

I don't just have one volunteer committment. I serve on multiple boards & committees in addition to my sorority stuff. So tt depends on what I'm doing. When I'm travelling, MIL or Dad usually babysit. But I've been known to hire my teenaged babysitter across the street in a pinch (like when Dad is out of town or something). Not usually for conference calls, my youngest is old enough now to entertain herself for an hour while I'm on a call. And her brother can keep an eye on things, since I'm in another room. I'll usually put on a movie in the family room and make them some popcorn, then take my call in the office. Sometimes I take the kids with me--it just depends on what I'm doing.

Have I gotten a babysitter to do volunteer work? Absolutely. Do I try not to? Yup. Now that they're in school all day, I try to do the bulk of my stuff while they're at school. But a lot of stuff is on weekends. So either they come along, or they hang w/their Dad. Or my Dad.

But the hours definitely rival a part-time job. And those are hours I'm not going to otherwise spend playing Dobby the House Elf.

On Wednesdays we wear pink.

"sometimes I have other ideas that I want to do." ---------- So you make the household decisions, then tell him what needs to be done?

I'm certain we have differences about the word "good" too.

"< Yes, she had that 50's idea but it worked> Worked for whom? Because entitled snots (who may someday become school superintendents) are a good thing?" Worked for our family. Not sure where the entitled snots came in as I never said that in this thread.

No, my family doesn't "help" me. Taking care of our home isn't "my job" that I need help with. This home belongs to all of us, and we all do our share, respectively.

THIS.  I might use the word "help" when I've already taken on a particular task and need an extra set of hands in the middle of it or something, but dh isn't *helping* me by doing the dishes after dinner, nor am I *helping* him by sweeping out the garage on a saturday.

When I "clean the patio" it's the concrete itself, as well as the grill, the plants, the furniture etc.   Not just the physical patio.

I guess if I were a SAHM I would probably assume control for home maintenance. But that doesn't mean I'd become the House Elf and pick up after everyone, make their beds, clear their dishes from the table or even necessarily put away their laundry. I might even clean the kids' bathroom once a week, but I'd expect them to hang up their own towels and wipe out the tub when they were done with it. Stuff like that.

THIS.

Since I have 2 of them, yes I know what it means to clean them Peachy. lol. And as I said before, those are not everyday things to be cleaned, even in warmer weather when they are used more and closets IME don't need cleaning on a regular basis. Do you clean closets often?
