So I heard a lot of chanting at school yesterday about tomorrow (today) being pay day, Woot!  Ha, That doesn't mean a lot to me but some of those teachers make good money and b/w that and the slip ins about money in a couple threads here I thought a thread would be fun..

How often are you/your DH paid

Do you discuss finances with your children?  To what extent?

Are you a spender or a saver

This is us, too.  It's always a bad idea for us to go to a bookstore or a kitchen gadget store together without a very strict plan, and sometimes it's bad even then.

I don't know. DH pays the bills and handles our investments. Occasionally I'll make a suggestion (Disney stock after it tanked after 9/11), but I let him handle it.

Sure. DH is a financial advisor. In an age-appropriate manner. The kids don't know details (income or net worth) but we regularly discuss the importance of investing, saving and charitable giving.

Are you a spender or a saver

A little of both. I spend on some things, save on others. DH is a saver.

On Wednesdays we wear pink.

I am paid semi-weekly.  Joel's varies.

I have always discussed finances with him on a need-to-know basis.  Now that he's a business owner and contributing some to the houshold, we have much more detailed discussions.

Are you a spender or a saver?

By nature, I'm really neither.  Out of necessity, I am more of a spender.

I tend to think that one should have saving goals, and a plan for reaching them...once those are met, then there is room for more slack spending.

DH started a business last year, so no paycheck from that, so far. He and his partner are hoping to make some money later this spring. (No, we're not idiots--DH retired a year and a half ago with the means to do this.)

DS is a natural saver. DD is a spender, and a generous giver, but I think she thinks money grows on trees. We are working to remedy our past errors and get her more grounded before she goes off to college next year.

Month and weekly

Do you discuss finances with your children? To what extent?
Yes, as needed.  One thing we've always done is talk to the kids about budgetting.  In it's simplest terms, "we have plenty of money, but we need to use it wisely."

Are you a spender or a saver
Both.  Hubby and I tend to save, on our own, but we are "bad for eachother" in that together, we tend to spend more.

Are you a spender or a save

Both. I don't think you should spend everything or save everything.

That's a good rule of thumb.

"It would be hard for daddy to find me another husband if it's known I was foolish with my allowance." -------- That is so true, and your daddy must be very proud that you are so responsible.
