So I heard a lot of chanting at school yesterday about tomorrow (today) being pay day, Woot!  Ha, That doesn't mean a lot to me but some of those teachers make good money and b/w that and the slip ins about money in a couple threads here I thought a thread would be fun..

How often are you/your DH paid

Do you discuss finances with your children?  To what extent?

Are you a spender or a saver

Again, Geschichtgal, the same reason you do. I am still young. This is working the best for me right now and again, I said I consulted with my father years ago about this (as he was very good with this). I am blessed to have extra money being invested also in my account from my company (and the chunk from a few years ago). It really has helped and in 20 years, who knows if I will go to a financial advisor to see if I should move my funds in other places. Right now, I am basically putting it in the hands of a well known, trusted company.

If it's so easy to invest as smart as possible, why wouldn't you make the smartest investments?  Do you prefer not to make the most money on your retirement?  I mean, if it's something that requires a good bit of knowledge to do effectively or the services of a good financial advisor, it makes sense to take the easy way out with a lifecycle fund.  But if it's sooo easy to do yourself, why would you stick with those investments?  You should read some Elizabeth Warren.  She does a good job explaining why the financial climate has changed a lot in the past 30-40 years.

At my age, no Chest, I don't think I need to. You are older than me so I can see your concern.

So you are willing to lose money (or not maximize) because you are younger than me? LOL

Good luck with that...I actually get to collect SSI and a pension. Do you? (thinking I'm pretty golden...)

Thanks Gesichgtal for the advice, maybe you should take it now since you are doing the exact same thing and find it ok too. Were your parents good savers? Do they give you advice and do you speak to them about your investments and do they talk to you about theirs?

It's fine for me right now, but I don't think maximizing my investments is nearly as easy as you do.
