So I heard a lot of chanting at school yesterday about tomorrow (today) being pay day, Woot!  Ha, That doesn't mean a lot to me but some of those teachers make good money and b/w that and the slip ins about money in a couple threads here I thought a thread would be fun..

How often are you/your DH paid

Do you discuss finances with your children?  To what extent?

Are you a spender or a saver

Eh, We've been playing around on it for a long time, Still do. But it's not one of the most liberal/progressive sites if that's your thing.

It's easy, and I have a long, long time until I retire.

<Because I'd rather pay 1/3 of what that site says we can afford.  That way we can still have money left for luxuries...>

Then bankrate.com is not a fun tool, is it? It also depends on where you are in your career. In my younger days, when I was on the lower end of my salary for job role I often got 10 - 15% raises per year, so I might take on riskier investments. Now, I'm at the high end, I get lower raises each year. (Yes, I'm really old and make a lot of money for what I do ;-)

In my 20s or 30s bankrate.com made a lot of sense, not so much in my 40s or 50s.

I do use these funds, but she's right.  They aren't the smartest way to invest.
