Yeah, I see nothing wrong with refuting gift cards that no one is going to use anytime soon.

me neither- done it before!  I also gave up a massage gift certificate a friend had given me once to a friend who clearly needed it more than I did...

I guess I am lucky that I never got any gc's that I would not use.

Don't you think the person who gave you the gc for a massage thought that YOU needed it too though?

at the time she gave it to me, yes I did.. and then ap erson in crisis needed it far far more than I and it was one little concrete thing I could do to help make someone feel better for a day and I knew that my friend would have understood.. and she did... ! it helped someone get through a very tough time and I'm glad I was able to do it

Even if someone thought I needed a massage that is one gift card/certificate I would never use personally. I would be happy to pass it in to someone who would enjoy it.

I love massages LOVE LOVE LOVE massages, I'd get one every day if I could afford it.. but I remember my mom telling me that sometimes the greatest gifts you can give up to someone else are those things that mean the most to you to sacrifice and I knew at the time it was the right thing to do to give this to someone much more in need than I was

I registered for my second wedding ... after I'd had my own household for 10+ years and dh had had his own house for like 7.  And we'd lived together for about 6 months.

I didn't really want to, but had a lot of people (particularly dh's friends that I didn't know that well) that wanted to know what to get us, and didn't want to get us something useless or redundant.  They said it wouuld really help them, so we registered.
