1. Are you planning to go skiing this winter? No, but mainly because I don't really like skiing down mountains.

2. When is the last time you ice-skated? (Did you fall?) I haven't ice-skated since dd was little and I took her the first time. I did not fall though. I used to skate quite a lot as a kid, and I do not fall easily.

3. Any new winter coat this year, if so please describe? Not yet, I need one and I have been looking, which is why I ask, to get ideas.

4. Favorite winter footwear? I had these great boots the last few winters. They were flat and lined with fake fur. They were cheapos from Zara and not great looking, but warm and comfortable. Unfortunately they died at the end of last winter. Pic attached.

5. Favorite winter soup? (Recipe?) I like to make a soup from homemade beef stock, with the meat in the soup along with lots of veggies and beans, sort of like a beef minestrone.

The coat sounds beautiful and I would think that green suits you.

1) I haven't been skiing since the kids were junior high age. I don't like skiing and I am glad they are old enough to go by themselves. 2). I like ice skating better than skiing but still haven't been since the kids were around 12. 3) I have a new to me winter coat. My girlfriend had splurged and bought herself an expensive designer coat as a post-surgery gift. She only wore it half of one winter because she died last Spring and her husband told me she wanted me to have the coat after I lost some weight  this year. It is a beautiful coat but I am going to have a hard time wearing it. It is full length and wool and a gorgeous shade of green. Peggy was a redhead and the coat looked stunning on her. 4) No winter footwear. 5). Not much in the soup department. I do make a big batch of split pea soup every winter with the last of the Christmas ham. I boil the bone for awhile and strip off the last bits of meat, then cool the liquid and soak the peas in it. Then I make the soup by frying up diced onions, carrots and celery in butter, then adding the peas and more water and seasonings, generally parsley, salt, pepper, and garlic, in the slow cooker for a long time, then run it alm through the blender to make it smooth, adding whatever chopped ham I have left.

Empty, I had a beautiful pair of black chukka boots, but in a fit of generosity I gave them to dd. Chicken chili sounds so good, but my dh will not eat chicken in any form unfortunately.

No.  Two Winters ago and in NYC, No I don't skate.  I'm actually on the hunt for a new coat, I saw this woman wearing a yellow pea coat the other day and I complimented her on it, It was so cute, She said she got it at tjmaxx.  I have a pair of uggs boots with 3" heels but I prefer my doc martens, The tread on the soles is better.  My mother passed down a homemade chicken noodle recipe, egg noodles, pulled chicken, celery stalk, hand rolled mini meatballs and of course the broth which is combination of canned and water, It's really good.

I like those boots.

Sav, chile verde sounds really good too. Do you have a fave recipe?

I love my black boots as well, but the leather is too nice for rough days:

We were just talking about that yesterday.  No, no skiing this winter.

2. When is the last time you ice-skated? (Did you fall?)   Last winter and yes.

3. Any new winter coat this year, if so please describe?  No, I bought one last year at the end of the season.  It's a casual coat, long and warm with a hood.

4. Favorite winter footwear?   My big LL Bean snow boots, I have had them most of my life I think.  Love them.

5. Favorite winter soup? (Recipe?)    Lobster and corn chowder, I make this every year after Christmas.
