"deadline???  It's hair, for pete's sake.

Yes, a special occasion."

One good thing about chemo is that it teaches you to get over completely silly things like that. Once you have knocked them dead with a bald head, fretting over hair, its length, its color etc., seems rather stupid. It is like that old George Carlin quip about eyebrows: "You got two of 'em? We are good."

Unless you are in the entertainment industry where a $600 investment in your appearance has a five-figure return, then even contemplating spending that kind of $$$ to achieve a certain look (when there are plenty of other achievable "looks" to choose from) seems like a sign that you may be a little too into yourself.

I am sorry you have had to go through cancer. You do realize that many, many cancer survivors choose to go the wig route, correct? To many people it is not "stupid" to want to have hair and want it nice and stylish.

George Carlin is a man and many men don't get the eyebrows thing. I wouldn't be going by some man's quotes on beauty and fashion. If you have chosen not to go the wig route, then that is your right. Don't put down the many women who want to have hair while they are battling cancer.

Nah....some people can afford it and want to achieve certain looks. You DO realize that many black women get their hair done on a regular basis and braids cost A LOT of money and A LOT of time to do them. Would you tell them they are a "little too much into themsleves"? I am sure there is something you would spend money on that others would find ridiculous (as I am sure you DO find extensions ridiculous from your comment). You are not into beauty. Shrug.

"as I am sure you DO find extensions ridiculous from your comment). You are not into beauty. Shrug." ------------ To an awful lot of people, extensions do not equal "beauty," but instead make people think of Jersey Shore or some of the deranged women on those dreadful "Housewives of ..." shows.

Exactly. My sister grew her hair from a pixie to shoulder length while on air. Without extensions. And her livelihood depends on her appearance. Extensions for a "special occasion" are utterly asinine. Get a blowout.

On Wednesdays we wear pink.

The irony of this attempt to shame a woman who is more beautiful effortlessly than those who spend way more time on the interwebz impressing us with her devotion to "beauty" but who at best, can manage "middle aged average" is HI. LAR. I. OUS. (And I say this as one who does well to manage middle aged average myself).

Rollmops isn't just above average. She's drop dead gorgeous, with an effortless style.  And she's kind.  And no amount of hair extensions will ever help those lacking basic human decency.

"Rollmops isn't just above average. She's drop dead gorgeous, with an effortless style. And she's kind." --------- Hey thanks! ;) Although I think the original dig was aimed at Bord. Not that this really changes anything (I am thinking of Bord's Tina dress), but just saying.
