Unless you are in the entertainment industry where a $600 investment in your appearance has a five-figure return, then even contemplating spending that kind of $$$ to achieve a certain look (when there are plenty of other achievable "looks" to choose from) seems like a sign that you may be a little too into yourself.

"deadline???  It's hair, for pete's sake.

Yes, a special occasion."

One good thing about chemo is that it teaches you to get over completely silly things like that. Once you have knocked them dead with a bald head, fretting over hair, its length, its color etc., seems rather stupid. It is like that old George Carlin quip about eyebrows: "You got two of 'em? We are good."

1. I just got home from my weekend plans. I left Thursday for New Holland, PA and our annual vintage sewing machine geek fest. I checked in early and then headed out to do my rounds of fabric shopping, starting with the Old Country Store in Intercourse. Spent nearly $600 on fabric by weekend's end, but the bulk of the weekend was spent at the firehall sewing and chatting, and doing show-and-tells on our projects from the past year. We had a raffle table and a silent auction (I got a Singer buttonholer for my short shank Singer--will probably go on the 66, won the silent auction for a quilt made up of blocks we all signed 2 years ago, and got 5 different sewing books included the skeeviest "How to Sew for Men and Boys" book by Simplicity from the 70s--it's HILARIOUS. I posted some of the more infamous pictures on Facebook :D). The rest of the weekend will be spent washing all the new fabric, as well as a trip to Target for new storage bins for the new additions to the stash, and probably mowing the lawn.

2. Several millenia ago, I had some ideas about wanting to bemarried and having a bazillion kids. Didn't work out. I'm also neither a stewardess, a fighter pilot, nor a race car driver. It's all good. If I were married or still had minor kids at home, it's not likely I'd have been able to blow the price of a used car on a sewing machine this past week :D

3.  I colored my hair from the time I was 33 until just last summer.  Then I had the stylist cut it all off into a really short cut and embraced my absolutely gorgeous silver :)

Packing, looking at houses.

No.

3.  Do you/do you plan to color your hair or let it go naturally gray?

I have colored it in the past but never will again, no matter what color it is naturally.

Even my sister, whose appearance is directly tied to her employment and whose employer dictates her hairstyle, didn't get extensions when she grew her hair out.

I wouldn't either if I didn't have a deadline when I wanted longer hair.

I can maybe, sort of, barely see it for a wedding, but there is no way in hell that I would even consider spending that type of money for prom, nor would I allow my kids to do it. Nobody NEEDS long hair.

On Wednesdays we wear pink.
