Does anybody besides me ever take the kids to Staples for school stuff and spend megabucks, only to discover a small fortune in used-but-still-serviceable items from last year hiding under the furniture and stuffed into closets?

They really put the cart before the horse with that study. They discovered that higher SES and education was correlated with higher levels of parental involvement in school. And then jumped to the conclusion that the success the children had must be because of the school involvement. It isn't. It's because of the higher SES and education. What's the evidence of that? Boarding schools. They allow for pretty much no parental involvement at all yet the students who come out of boarding schools tend to be very succesful indeed. Why? Because their parents are high SES. Which is what really matters. Not the educational involvement.

No Egd knows the works status of the whole school, not just her children's classes. So quit bashing PA for saying she knows a small portion of her school, which would be normal.

Please, please tell me you're not on your employer's dime today.

You make up lies and then can't support them. That's just so sad.

Since when is it bashing to quote someone's own words? But it's nice to see that you agree with me then that PKA is fabricating whether one can or cannot know the work status of the parents. Well, it's nice to finally get a wohm to agree to a point a sahm made in this debate. That's very rare!

You're one to admonish anyone for bashing. EGD has been quite clear how she knows that when she volunteers, the volunteers have been sahms. She knows the make-up of the parents at her school. Like Mbanc has ably proven, if anyone specifically knows EGD's personal situation better than EGD, let her speak up. But no one has.

Nope, I never said that.

Again, thanks for your ADMISSION (finally, Whew!) that nicely resolves the debate in EGD's favor. I love it when we can wrap things up so completely! That's when debate truly works.

Find something productive to do with my time besides waste it on this board. :) For the first time this year, all 3 of mine are in school at least part time.

I guess I could do more volunteering at the schools! LOL.

Ohhhhh, the drama of it all!!LOL Whoever said that anyone was "inundated" with such calls? Personally, I've never gotten such a call at work...probably because I don't give them my number. Like many others, I like that situation as it is, so I will continue to not give out the number.

Your ADMISSION nicely resolves this debate. Thanks!

No because again Egd knows the work status of 400 students and PA knows the work status of 2 classes, about 40 students. You do see the difference between 400 and 40 don't you?
