Does anybody besides me ever take the kids to Staples for school stuff and spend megabucks, only to discover a small fortune in used-but-still-serviceable items from last year hiding under the furniture and stuffed into closets?

I thought it was 400 families, which of course could be more than 400 students, or less depending?

It's slightly less than 40 total, but then again I only have general knowledge of the classes, I don't know everyone's work status.

No Egd knows the work status 400 students and 375 of them are sahms. A few people have quoted 400 families though, so it is getting muddled. Our neighborhood elementary school also has 400 students so her statement caught my attention. I work here 2 days a week, participate in PTA and there is no way I could know all the students, match them up with their parents and know their work status. And I wouldn't claim I could on a message board and/or expect anyone to defend weird statements like that.

My son does go to other teachers for P.E. and art, and music, etc. However that is hardly enough time for my son's teacher to run out to her car, get over to another school, sign in, volunteer and get back. She teaches all subjects except these a few other what they call *specials*. Not to mention that when these children are out of the classroom is when she is preparing for the next lesson, running off copies, clerical things, etc. Not even close to enough time to get out and go volunteer at all.

Just this.......< >>

Again, you are working very hard to make her original statement plausible when she herself almost 300 posts ago admitted that she didn't know all the families.

<<>>

Because it reduces the children ratio. I didn't say in class volunteering was the only way a parent could be adequately involved with their child's education.

<<>>

I did mean that. That is all that is allowed at our school. Unless the teacher is having a party or large art project where they need a lot of hands.

<<>>

I do too. That is why the teacher takes over the AG students to push them along. She teaches the other children their lessons and when they break up into groups the volunteer is there to help with any issues that may arise.
