2. Do you wear perfume? Favorite?

3. Bagels-cream cheese or butter?

Meh. The Washington Post publishes an annual list of the best places to get crab in the area. Generally speaking their pick for Number 1 is good, but it's not the best, imo.

Next time I head back over the Atlantic, it'll have to be England. Mootoad would never forgive me if I hit up Europe and didn't come see her :) And Germany. And John and the DIL and whatever grandkids there may be, too. John wants to see where we lived.

Well your day is almost over, mine is just starting. And I unfortunately have something worse than rain going on. IT'S FREAKIN' SNOWING & HAS BEEN ALL NIGHT AND IT'S ACTUALLY STICKING, WE HAVE A COUPLE INCHES OF ACCUMULATION. And yes this is usually when we plant our flowers, 2nd to 3rd week in May. It's so depressing, I've lived here over 25 years now & this is not normal & it is disgusting.

Sorry, had to say that. On a good note, my wordly aunt is in town and coming to stay at my house for the next 2 days. She is my favorite favorite aunt--we've seen her a few times over the last week for family events, but is going to stay here for the rest of this vist. And I told her yesterday she is my favorite aunt, EVAH!

It's almost 90 here. And like 95% humidity. And very windy. Major storm potential for tomorrow night. bleck.

FTR, dh and I plan to come back some day to see his BFF again. We'll have to have another beer.

No, you assume incorrectly. I saw the two links (really one link as it was the same article posted in two different places), but thats not a logical claim to make. A lot of places claim to be the "best" whatever, lol.

Maybe because they are. It is not just something I made up Laughing

Of course Spring's claims aren't logical. This whole conversation has gotten silly. It's perfectly okay to claim that it's easier to get a good bagel in NYC than in almost any other place; just like its easier o get lobster in Maine or crab cakes in Baltimore or Cajun food in New Orleans. But to claim that one can ONLY get good X in Y place? Not logical, prima facie.

I agree that it's not logical to claim they are only good in single region.

Then you must have missed the 2 links I put up showing where the best bagels in the nation were. Not all were in NY but NY was still the top winner.

I don't care whether Soring had been to my area of the country. She's been places I haven't been; I've been places she's never been. It's a big freaking planet. It's just not logical to believe that some NYC bagels are better than others, but ALL of them have some intangible commonality that makes all if them more different from all bagels produced elsewhere than they are different from each other.

I was calling her on her point, that one has to live in NYC or have been there to get their fill of certain foods in order to claim superiority of the same foods in other parts of the country. Going with her logic (what little there was), then she would have had to been to my area to judge that they weren't the same thing. I agree that it's not logical to claim they are only good in single region.
