For Fun! Describe your personal style

The little side discussion about shoes and purses made me think of this. Thought it might be something fun to break up our day! What would you describe as your personal *style*? What kind of clothing do you like? What do you wear during the week, on the weekend, to workout, etc.??

Dh always teases me that I am trying to hold onto my youth in the way I dress! During the week, jeans (Gap mostly) with a sweater or t shirt, and I have a couple pairs of pull on cotton pants (I usually only wear those if I am not leaving the house though). I wear lots of black, but also like really funky silky shirts with lots of color. For work, I usually do slacks or skirt with dressy but fun shirts-I have some sequined t shirts and blouses that are more form fitting. I have some cool velour pants ($12 at the Gap 3 years ago, thenk yew veddy much!) and some *fake* suede slacks that dont look fake, lol. The other day I bought a pair of cargo capri/flood jeans and dh saw them and made the *holding onto my youth* comment-I said *Hey if I can still buy a size 3 in the juniors section, I'm d@mn well gonna wear them!!! I'm wearing them as long as I can!!!* LOL. Oh and I have my own "Queer eye for the straight guy" in my brother-he is always buying me stuff and keeps me up on whats *in*.:o)

So I guess my style would be kind of trendy/funky with a few classics thrown in. I dress younger than I am (maybe thats why people cant believe I am almost 40, LOL!!)

My sibs always tease me about my *lack* of style. LOL! I tend to dress in a fairly traditional/classic styles. Black slacks are my staple... with a colored top. I also like to wear dresses since it takes 2 seconds to put on a dress (vs. trying to find matching tops and bottoms). During the weekends, I wear jeans (low rise Levis for me usually) with a t-shirt. I don't think low rise pants or cargo capris are for *young* people only. My butt will look horrendous in anything but low rise pants. And cargo capris are cute!

Today's a bit different: I'm wearing a flower printed silk dress about shin length with black pointed-toed mules... because it's feeling like summer around here!

I am a pair of shorts and a T-Shirt person. I am trying to be more tailored. For the summer, I have capris because I am so short. I don't have to worry about length. I also love the color black. I am trying to get more colors.

I am very casual and some of my clothes have stains. Today, I have a black dress with a black cardigan. The ^*^* dogs jumped on me so I have a giant paw print in the middle. I didn't have time to change.

I also love vintage clothing and funky purses.

Hmmmm...Classic? In a jeans and t-shirt kind of way. If I'm just knocking around the house, I'll either wear jeans and a t or a terry/fleece/velour (depending on the season) warm up suit. In the summer, it is usually capris and a t. I'm very, very casual. Today I've got on jeans and a baseball sleeve t. I'd like to think my saving grace from slovenly is the full face of makeup and perfectly coiffed hair...(always, always).

If I'm going out (shopping or lunching w/friends), in the winter I'll usually do a cashmere sweater (love turtlenecks) w/the jeans, in the summer I'll do a strappy tank w/cute, patterned capris.

My sister is very, very trendy, so if I need to dress to impress, I usually borrow from her and I always accept hand-me-downs (usually jeans, her weight flucuates sometimes).

For church or dinner out, in the winter it is more cashmere (I'm obsessed w/cashmere sweaters and shoes) w/black pants or cords or a skirt (depending on my mood), in the summer it is probably a little sundress.

I forgot to add the hair and makeup. Unless I am going for a run, I always wear at least minimal makeup. And I cant just let my hair go after I shower-if I dont blow dry and put some product in it, it looks like something the cat dragged in!

Style? Well, I'm clean and deodorized and my hair is combed several times a day, isn't that enough? I 'm definitely not into fashion -- I wear things that are comfortable. Today I have on a black and grey sweater I got for Christmas (from that catalog that sounds like something Robert Redford would own...Colorado Creek or something, really cheesy descriptions of the clothes), an old pair of jeans, and my black tennies. It's a pretty typical work outfit for the days I don't have to be in the classroom. When I teach, I usually wear a skirt, sweater, nylons, and black sandals.
