What is the best gift you've ever gotten? What pops into your head? Doesn't have to be a Christmas gift.
What is the best gift you've ever given?
Many years ago, a coworker gave me The GivingTree by Shell Silverstein. She said it reminded her of me. That made me cry.
A few years ago I gave DH a Bose speaker thingy for his IPod. It was great because he never expected it and it was perfect for him. He was really surprised. I don't usually spend this kind of money on gifts.
that is my absolute favorite storybook, and i still enjoy reading it.
oops, and to add my own favorite gift - probably the baby doll my Godmother gave me one year, i couldn't have been any older than second grade and the doll was hers that she passed down to me..the one memory of the gift i most enjoyed giving is probably this framed painting that was signed by the artist for my mother. we were living in indy at the time and the artist is local nancy noel, my mom loved children and she loved flowers esp impatiens, the picture is a darling, little girl looking outside her window with those flowers in a window box.
Once I made dd a silk dress according to a description she had written. She told me later it was like a fantasy come true (she was little, lol).
Dh is impossible to buy gifts for, but a few years back I got him the porcelain version of the classic, blue, NYC Greek diner take-out coffee cup. He loves that thing and it reminds him of the old days when he worked with those diner guys.
Best gift I gave? Hmmm, several things come to mind. Like the year (I think I was 16) that i gave my parents plain gold wedding bands. They'd been without for a while (my dad's was ruined in a chemistry accident and the diamond had fallen out of my mom's).
The best gift I've ever been given was a Kitchenaid stand mixer. Mine had broke and at the time, I couldn't afford to replace it. As the resident bread baker in my family, I hand kneaded the dough and continued to treat them for every family birthday party and other occasions. They all pooled together and surprised me with the mixer for my birthday.
