I know my children have changed my life. I am definitely a better person for having them. They have taught me patience, self-control, patience, organization, patience, unconditional love--and did I say patience?

Does anyone have any good stories about how their children have taught them something important? I would love to see a few and I'm sure others would too.

I learn something daily from my kids, but my dd Cate (age 14) has taught me the most. She struggles with dyslexia and as a result is one of the most empathetic and kindest people I know. She understands what it is to be the underdog and the one who has to work twice as hard to achieve what comes easily to most people. She has no room in her life for people who are arrogant or feel they have to put others down to make themselves feel better. Instead she focuses on how she can make someone's day a little brighter. Random acts of kindness are her specialty.

Since I began homeschooling her two years ago, I've learned so much. She is just soaring now that she can study according to her learning style. She has inspired me to not give up on some dreams of my own as I've watched her develop her artistic talents to the point that she sells her work at an art studio.

She will never fail because she will never give up. She has her sights set on college and becoming a veterinarian. Three years ago she was asking when she could legally quit school because she felt so defeated and stressed from the learning struggles.

She's my hero.
