What good smells will be happening in your house today.

Now I have tomato sauce cooking for the lasagna for tomorrow. Later today it will be apple pie.

Well, we found a turkey and put it in around noon. It was supposed to take about 3 1/2 hours to roast but was done around 2. The mashed potatoes and turnips got too much milk in them and the green bean casserole was a little burnt on top. And nothing was done on time. We ended up eating after 5. So went to my mom's without cleaning up the kitchen. But we all had a good time and expect to repeat the new tradition next year. We will get better at it as we go. The snickerdoodles did get done. And everyone is coming down off a massive sugar high this weekend.

Your menu is a lot like mine. I am also having lasagna, garlic bread and tossed salad.

For desert we have peanut butter pie, apple pie and sweet potato pie.

The good smells started on Monday. So far Joy and I have made 17 dozen cookies (sugar, gingerbread, brown eyed Susans, chocolate, and Russian tea cakes--aka snowballs) and 7 loaves of bread (2 pumpkin, apple, 2 banana, and zucchini). What's left is snickerdoodles rolled in red and green sugar sprinkles. We are having Christmas Eve dinner, a new tradition, this afternoon around 4 pm for 12 people. The original menu was going to be roast turkey, mashed potatoes and turnips, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls and cranberry relish. Then we found out that half of us were working at that time. So we revised the menu to roast chicken. Now, everyone were able to change their work schedules so we are back to the turkey. Which has not been bought. So we are now on the hunt for an already defrosted turkey to buy and roast so we can still eat at 4. And I need to go by my mom's house to borrow more Christmas dishes. I only have 6 and need 6 more. And we need to be at my mom's house between 6 and 7 pm. I can't get dressed because Matilda is asleep in my room. Joy is still asleep because Parker isn't letting her sleep at night. So everything is still up in the air at this point.

I just finished a Danish apple crumble (fresh breadcrumbs, almonds and butter) and now the duck is roasting. Our Christmas dinner is tonight.
