(Shamelessly stolen from above)

Are you a home town girl, lived in the same town your entire life?

Don't live in the town you grew up, have moved a couple of times but now plan to stay settled?

Had a very mobile childhood but have stayed settled as an adult?

Did not move as a child but have a very mobile adulthood?

Had a very mobile life as both child and adult?

or any other variation that I didn't think of.

I am kind of a mix of a couple of them. I only moved once as a child (when I was three my parents moved about two miles to the house my dad still live in), had a very mobile military young-mid adulthood (18 moves in just shy of 19 years) DH retired 5.5 years ago so now I am settled and plan to stay that way.

I lived in the same town, same house, same bedroom from the age of 6 months until I was just under 18, when I moved for the first time to go to college.

I moved a lot until age 7 (7 different homes, in the U.S. and the Netherlands), then stayed put till I went to college. Then I started moving every year for the next 8 years (Washington, DC, Dublin Ireland, New York, Dublin again, Boston).

We've been in this house for almost 5 years, and we're thinking about moving. We'll either stay in this area or relocate to CA. My younger sister just moved to LA (she shot a pilot for Showtime, and had an audition for Gilmore Girls, all in 2 months, brag brag), and my older sister and her husband are thinking of moving there, too. So Molly, my older sister, just called and asked if DH and I want to move out there. We'd already been thinking about it, but didn't want to move so far from my family. So we might do it. Where the agus girls go, the parents are sure to follow, so my parents would move, too. It's something to think about.

Should we move?!?

Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear it. I just heard the good news and popped back over, just in case you were still checking in.

Born and raised in this state, but have lived a few different places within the state. Lived way up north as an infant and toddler, then moved to a small town about 60 miles outside our *main* city. Grew up in the city, moved back to that same small town at age 12 till 18. Moved back to the city, lived there until about 6 months ago when we moved to another small town about 30 miles outside the city. Our plan is to remain in this house for about 20 years.

I'm a hometown girl. Save for my four years in college, I've lived in the same 10 mile radius my whole life. Lived in one house for 12 years, lived in the next house for almost 10 (including my four years "away" at college--came back for holidays and summers), moved into a house w/DS a few miles from that one and lived there 6 1/2 years, and just moved a few miles from THAT house in January. All in all, I've moved three times (college doesn't count) in 28.5 years and I'm still 10 miles or so from the house I came home to as a newborn.

I come from a looooong line of stay-there-forever people: my grandparents lived in their houses for over 40 years (after they moved from flats downtown to the 'burbs), my parents were in their first house for 24 years and have been in their current house for almost 17. DH and I were in our starter home for 6.5 years and will be in this one at least 'till the mortgage is paid in 15 years, unless we, um, unexpectedly come into money (say, if FIL passes) and can buy our dream home on a few acres. Personally, I'd rather keep this place and FIL around though.

As a completely unrelated aside: I GOT RENTERS FOR OUR OTHER HOUSE TODAY!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO! As of April 15, we'll be back to making one house payment! I am SO, SO happy. And her son wants to finish the basement, which as long as it's up to code and not totally crappy or ghetto, I'm fine with--it will add value to the house when we eventually sell it or make it easier to rent! YAY, YAY, YAY!

I live about 10 miles from where I grew up.

My parents moved into my childhood home when mom was pg with me, and they stayed there until I was 21 and out of college.

Well, I've lived in this condo for 15 years now, which makes me pretty settled, but prior to that I moved quite a bit.

My parents moved often, although they, too, have been in the same place now for nearly 12 years. Growing up, my parents moved from the apartment they had when they married, to the house they brought me home to, about a week before I was born. We moved again, when I was 7, to another house in the same city. Then, when i was 12, we moved to Germany (dad worked as a civil servant for the Army) and when I was 15 we moved back to IL, but across the state from where we lived when I was born. When I graduated high school, I joined the Army and took basic at Fort Dix, NJ, then language training at the Presidio of Montery, CA, then AIT at Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo, TX. Then I was stationed in Germany for the remainder of my enlistment before moving back to the States (maryland). I lived in an apartment complex in the same county, but different city from my condo, and in 1988 moved to the condo. I've been here ever since.

I moved once as a child to a different house in the same school district. We had horrible neighbors and my mom decided spur of the moment after one of the 8 wacko kids did something really disgusting (don't remember what it was). Soooo, the house was on the market in November and we moved in February to a much newer house where I lived until I was 26. I moved to an apartment with a girlfriend, it only lasted a year (long story) and I moved home with my tail between my legs, only to meet DH 2 weeks later. Then I moved here into his house and have been here ever since. I live in a very small town about 7 miles from where I grew up.
