In my family, in order to see your grandchildren grow up, you have to live into your nineties.

A family friend basically did that. She had a very full life, many kids, a great career, kept very active in retirement. At 90 she was riding her bike, got hit by a car and was gone.

My MIL says she wants to live until 90, still walking to work every day and then step off from a curb, get hit by a bus and die instantly.

It's awesome to have a family member with so much history to share. My grandparents died before they were 70 and those were the years I was just starting to know more about them and their past. In my 'kid' years they were 'gramma and grampa' and would be around forever to tell us their stories so I didn't ask them as much as I now wish that I had..

I hear what you're saying and agree totally. I don't want to be artificially kept alive nor do I want to be cared for because I'm losing my ability to care for myself.

honestly the thought of living to 100 is not appealing to me -- I'm thinking I'll go out some where between 75 and 85
