In an effort to move on from the other thread, Lol......  What is helicopter parenting IYO?  Do you see it only at school or in other settings as well?  What does it look like?  Provide examples if you can, Thank you.

Well no, why would you still stay at bday parties? lol. I have even said that I don't stay at with my H.S. child as well as many parties for my E.S. child now also. lol ---again, ONLY for the elementary school child UNLESS it was a special circumstance for the high schooler (maybe a party that the entire family was invited to)

Another contradiction to previous posts.

I personally do not know what region Tardy is in as if I even did, I wouldn't put up personal information up here. If Tardy wants that information out, Tardy will tell us.

Do you see each other at places other than these birthday parties? ---many over the years, yes and still to this day Like once or twice a year? -----some once or twice a year (but speak to them on a regular basis) and some much often than that.

Ah...I get the difference now, I see my kids friends parents way more than one or twice a year, i see them like once or twice a week.  If I only saw them once or twice a year, then I can see why one would want to stay and catch up.

No one said to give up your 3-4 friends. If you feel that is all you can handle, that is fine. I have never limited myself to only a few friends as I think I have enough love for many friends. I am truly blessed with the friends I have now and don't take advantage of it. I appreciate it and know I am lucky to have friends like I do.

Nope

FYI, if these are in reponse to anything I have said...I just basically ignore them since they don't have any context what so ever.

Once I though about it and heard other places do the same thing (you can check other people's posts here, I think Tardy said the same thing), I started believing it is not a regional thing but an individual thing.

What region is Tardy in?   Yes, I can check other peoples posts and those I know in my region are saying the same thing that I am saying thus it = regional.

No, I am not basing my comments on only what I have seen on TV lololol. You do realize that I have friends in other states and areas of the country, right? lol.

No of course you can't be close friends with everyone you meet but through the years you usually create a bond with people you see on a regular basis at sporting events, school events, etc. Sometimes you do outside things with these people too, at least IME. Yes, that is what everyone has said I believe. ------no others are saying that 3-4 friends is good enough for them and they don't have the time to be friends with everyone. I never said everyone needs to turn into a good friend but to be open enough to let others in your life other than a few friends.

No, 3-4 close friends makes my life rich enough that I don't need to cultivate friendships with people I might not like.  My closest friends make my life very rich -  if I had to give up time with my family or with those friends to make new ones with people that I might not even bond with?  What kind of sense would that be?

So you are considering your elementary school "regional"?

Why on earth would you think my experience is limited to my elementary school, you know when there have been numerous other posters from my area with the same examples yet attend other school within my region.

Are you still basing your comments on what you saw on tv, lol.
