And again, that is great, artwork that is original BUT, ANYONE could BUY artwork and that original also. Photo's are memories you have made through the years. NO ONE ELSE can BUY that.

1. Who said there was shame involved?

2. You are confusing host with server.

This is what personal pictures I have on my walls, the rest is artwork and such:

My engagement photo (with the things written by guests at my wedding when you first walk into the house

My wedding photo in my living room

My son as a baby and my dd's communion picture in my bedroom

The rest of my pictures are in frames, displayed on shelves, tables, etc.

"what I remember in someone's home is the personal photo's they have of family and friends."

THat's not surprising.

"I just went to a wake and it is kind of like that, most people don't bring their original artwork to display and say something about their lives, they display photo's of the deceased when they were young, when they were older, with family, with friends, etc."

You can't see how that is COMPLETELY different?

So you thought the size of the wedding meant if you got gifts or not?

My parents had quite a responsibility for that reception as hosts. They brought together a very diverse group with little in common except they knew my husband or myself. The food was great, the drinks were overflowing, but they had lots of work to do at the reception making sure the older and younger generations invited were entertained and comfortable.

Have you ever hosted a party? I can't imagine not being concerned about food, drink, music, and the comfort of our guests even at the most of informal of events. We entertain quite often and I always have a little stress about something, but the pleasure of their company outweighs the stress.
