I met mine in Japan where we were both stationed in the Air Force.

I mostly lurk here but could resist this question. DH and I first met on what was called a "floor date" in college. His floor (all male) went out with my floor (all female) to play a game of mall tag (every one turned in their student id's and was given the id of someone else and then you had to find that person at a local mall based only on their id picture).

I didn't have a ride to the mall and my dh was having people pile into the back of his pick up. I chose to climb into the cab with him, he told me to get into the bed and I told him "I don't know what kind of driver you are and I'll be safer in here." He rolled his eyes and we were off. I though he was a jerk and he thought I was a priss (my east coast accent didn't help with that either). Not exactly love at first sight.

After that we just kept bumping into each other in the dorm study basement. By the end of the semester we were a couple.

Through a mutual friend.

DH was my best friend's dentist. She found out a little bit about him before she introduced us. She asked him to come to a bar/restaurant we used to frequent so he could meet "a bunch" of her friends. I was the "bunch" of friends. He and I hit it off immediately.

When this question comes up, DH always says, "In a bar."

The full answer is that my now BIL was visiting DH, and the night before they were leaving to go to Graceland, DH invited a bunch of his fraternity brothers to happy hour to meet BIL. It was supposed to be boys only, but one of DH's friend's girlfriends (who was a friend of mine) invited herself anyway. And told me there would be lots of cute guys from our mutual alma mater. I had nothing better to do on a Thursday night. I am always very punctual and so is DH. So DH, BIL, my friend and I were the only ones who showed up for a while, and the attraction was immediate.

When one of DH's friends, who turned out to be a mutual friend, arrived later in the evening, he asked us how long we had been dating! I blushed and said we're not. DH said, "Not yet..." and the rest is history!

Technically, I can say the same thing. LOL! Because I *did* meet DH in a bar, but it was through a mutual friend.

I was the summer youth minister at his grandmother's church. I was 19 and engaged to someone else. He was 16 and newly returned from Japan, where his parents had both been stationed with the Air Force.

His mother SWORE we could be 'friends' but couldn't 'go out'. I realized I was being treated badly by my fiance and broke the engagement.

At the end of the summer I went back to college and we communicated off and on for a year. The next summer he left home (very long story here) and we've been together ever since.

I met DH in court. About 8 months before a drunk driver almost ran me over on a sidewalk outside a club. DH happened to be in the parking lot, and arrested the guy. Another police officer took my information, and when I testified in court, DH stopped me afterwards to thank me. My father was a police officer too, and DH knew my dad. DH found out where I worked at the time and called me and we went out. A year and 20 days later we were married.

We met at a bookstore where we both worked. He worked in the children's section and I was a cashier.

We worked for the same company and were friends/aquaintances for 6 years prior to dating. A mutual friend of ours talked us into going out together, and the rest is history! Oh and our mutual friend actually married us too. :o)

We met at church. We were assigned to one of the youth groups as "counselors" and the rest is history. I never thought we would end up together because he was 8 years older than me and at the time I was a "very young" 22 year old and still in college....he was so much more experienced and had even been engaged once!! I had only had one prior relationship to him in my teens. But he was dead set on winning my heart and he wore me down! LOL

We met in college, my freshman year. His girlfriend introduced us (big mistake). I remember thinking that he was one of the best looking guys I had ever seen, but a real prep. I was dating someone steadily, then when we returned to school in the fall he had broken up with his g/f, and he wore me down. By Christmas I had to give my steady (who was going to school in another state) the bad news. That was 25 years ago.

Boy do I feel old.
