Why can’t you just use your credit card?

Cash can be seen and touched and kids get that, usually at an early age,

I do what you do . .. I too have considered keeping it in savings and transferring as necessary. With online banking and my accounts being linked, it'san easy thing to do ... but my savings account generates so little interest I've decided it isn't worth it.

When my savings balances accumulates signficantly, I transfer it to my money market (different institution, so it requires a "check") which does generate significant interest.

"special deal" I guess you assume if somone chooses a loan that gives them a lower interest rate and the ability too earn interest on their escrow they have taken a "special deal" when in realtiy they choose the "better loan" for their situation.

Yeah, that is basically what we do. The main account is not strictly speaking a proper savings account, we have a third account for that, but it is an account where money is allowed to accumulate for a while, before being given a final destination. Since our income varies a fair amount, this is a pretty flexible way of doing it, while still keeping a certain discipline.

How much money you are amaking on thoese 7 g's depends on several factors including: What is the interest rate? Over what period of time? How often is the interest calculated and paid during the period?

So basically you earn a small amount of interest on your 7g's.

4x times a year? We only pay twice and I just write it down on my calendar with my other bills. Never found it to be a hassle.

Pretty personal question as I never said the exact amount I pay per year for both things or what place I have the money.

You don't save for your big expenses each month?
