How do you read your newspaper?

I start at the front page and browse. I look for anything new or interesting. I have a friend who is a reporter for the paper, so I look to see if he made the front page and read his article.

Then I look through the A section which includes national, international, and business news and the editorial pages. I look at the letters to editor to see if I recognize anyone or see a topic that intrigues me. I have several friends who routinely send in letters and get printed once or twice a year each. So it is fun day, if I recognize a name.

I look through the Metro section to see if there is anything I should be aware. I skip the obits.

I look through the Style section. First i look to see if the DC housewives have done anything- cause yaknow I'm a housewife in DC and they do exactly what I do. (blech). I love Carolyn Hax and Ask Amy and I read the comics. I save suduko and the crossword for later.

I don't generally read the sports section. I gaze at the specialty section of the day (Food, housing, Local...) to see if there is anything interesting.

Oh, ok. I used to have that but when we switched companies the one we have now is not good enough to keep up with the local news.

Love me some TMZ-lol!! I got hooked into watching Jersey Shore last week and IMO, they are HILARIOUS. If I watch it again it is to see what dumb remarks they all make-lol!!

I went digital a few years ago. Before that I would get the Herald Tribune, which is a thin, single-section paper containing a selection of stories from the NYT and the DC Post.

Now I go through Google News and browse the stories from there. Then I go to the NYT online and browse through that. It varies quite a bit what sort of articles I read, although I often read a couple of the editorials/op-ed pieces.

The correct way to read a newspaper is in the order it comes.

I have mentioned before my quirk about the newspaper. I must read it first because it must be in order (although as a teen my DD1 did sometimes read the paper while I was at work, but she put it back exactly like it came).

The variations of reading it in order in on Sunday I first read the comics and glance at some of the ads, and then read the paper. On Wednesday I look at the food ads for the two grocery stores I shop at and then read the paper. But the paper itself is read in the order it comes in.

We have a local news station here but with our cable company. We switched to another company and only get their local news station which is really not that great.

When I get a paper, I read it front to back. I will go so far as to reshuffle the paper in order to do that. While I don't read the Sports section, it must be in it's "proper" place in the stack. The comics are read in full, both on the editorial pages and the comics pages. The crosswords puzzles are done last.
