Obviously, since I'm a SAHM, I'm going to say mine is "permanent." As for DH, he took about a week and a half off when we had DS, and worked reduced hours for the first month or so.

Of course, b/c of my PPD and retired parents, my mom and dad were over from 8-5-ish every day, and when I got mastitis, mom spent the night to help out.

You did not have an easy postpartum, did you? I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I never had mastisis but I have heard it is really painful *shudder*.

With my first, I took off 7 weeks. DH and I were not married at the time and he was preparing for surgery and then on chemo. With my second, I took off 9 weeks and DH got a week paid paternity leave. How cool is that? He was also recovering from surgery, chemo and radiation so he had some other days off while he was sick. The family joke is that if we can keep me from being pregnant and his father from getting remarried then DH's tumor will never return! My FIL married his 3rd wife while I was pregnant the first time and married his 4th wife when I was pregnant again!

My leave......well I could've took up to a year plus the normal 12 weeks, but I was ready to go back to work after 16 weeks.

My company GIVES US 12-weeks with pay, and then the rest would depend on your time and short term/long term disability benefits iwth pay.

I didn't require my husband to take any, but he actually stayed home with the baby for 1 month after I went back to work. I think he wanted a break from work for himself and saw the baby as an excuse for his job to grant it...LOL

12 years.

Actually I took a prenancy discharge and seperated from the Air Force but if I would have stayed in then it would have been 4 weeks. It was six weeks prior to that and is now six weeks again. I just happened in a two year tiem frame where it was 4 weeks.

I think that DH took 2-3 weeks of leave with all of my deliveries but usually returned to week after a week to 10 days.

Believe it or not, there is no "sick leave" or "maternity leave" policy for professors at the university where I teach. We can...ta da!....take a semester off without pay or work out an altered assignment deal with our departments....it's all ad hoc. Staff has better policies than faculty around here.

I managed to have DS#1 at the very end of a semester, the day after classes ended, came back with baby in tow to give a final 48 hours later, and then took the following fall semester off without pay. With DS#2, I was having a rough pregnancy and so took the semester off in which he was born (April birthday). I had to go back to teaching the following September.

My leaves are unpaid (except for six weeks of disability payments which are capped at $200 a week)....I took 12 weeks off with my DD and DH took 2 weeks (he was driving me crazy after the first week because there wasn't a lot he could do since I was exclusively bfeeding)

This time I think I will take 8 weeks. My Nanny is working throughout my leave so I know I will feel more comfortable returning to work.

6 weeks both times, that's all my disability insurance covered. Dh took about a week. He didn't have "leave", he had to use vacation time.

Lol, I inadvertantly read the beginning of your sentence before I read the thread title...all I got was "How Long was your dh's".....LOL. Kind personal questions here!!

My MAT was 12 weeks, dh took about a week off. I went back to work for 2 months, pt. Then my company offered a one-time-only early retirement. I had about a week to make a decision. I ended up taking it and have never looked back. :o)

My leave with the three children in order: 6 weeks, 6 months (due to school year), and 9 weeks. Only with the last baby had I saved any sick/vacation time. 5.5 of my 9 weeks were fully paid for and the remainder I WAH roughly 20 hours/week and 'made up' the rest of the time upon my return.

Dh's leave in order: 4 days (then it was back to Basic Training for him and he didn't see her again til 6 weeks, and again til 12 weeks), 2 weeks, and 2 weeks.
