I have read that all adults needing 8 hours of sleep is actually false.

Most adults need between 7-8 hours of sleep to function that their best.

What is your magic number?

Well, in the 9 I originally counted, I didn't include any broken or inoperative ...

I don't know why "people" are against having televisions in bedrooms, but I know why I am. I think probably people have different reaons for being against having televisions in their bedrooms. Someone already mentioned that she slept better once she took the TV out of her bedroom. That would be one very good reason for someone to prefer not having one in there.

I never saw a problem with having a TV in the bedroom but then I don't get up in the middle of the night and start watching it. If my husband wakes up, he will go in the livingroom to watch

We have two tvs. One in the family room and one in the downstairs rec room. I can't handle a large tv because all the flashing gives me headaches. We have three computers, not counting DH's work laptop. The three are all in the family room.

I prefer not to have a tv in the bedroom because I can see no reason for it.

The short answer is that TVs in the bedroom just don't sync with who we are as a family.

That's not being a hypocrite, that's being a parent.

We also had a TV in our room but not in the kids rooms. We sometimes let them watch TV in our room if they wanted to watch something different from what was being watched in the living room.

I don't think that's being hypocritical. Even if I had a television in my room I wouldn"t allow the kids one in. Theirs. There is too much on TV that is inappropriate for younger kids, and older kids do not need a new reason to spend time alone in their rooms.

That is the main reason we won't allow our kids to have them.

there's a commercial for some gadget, the wife i think has on an ear piece in bed so she can hear the TV while the husband sleeps.
