I need to down grade my royal interest score

In a previous fluff thread, I noted my interest in the royal baby was on a 5 or 6 (on a 1 to 10 slide scale).  I'm going to have to knock that down to a 4, because, as it turns out, I really did NOT need to listen to an explanation of the royal cervix thinning, nor of mucous plugs or bloody show.  Truly, I'm just not THAT interested in the royal birth.

Good Lord, when did we get to the point that bystanders share in more than "Hey, Baby's born!  Look!  Wrinkly!!" And we all go "awwwww!"

Sounds like tabloid garbage, What do you read?  Blech.  I have the today show on and Natalie has been over there for the last week or so watching and waiting, She reported earlier that Kate went into labor around 6:30 this morning and that William is by her side.  Aww, that is nice and I am interested.  I am looking forward to the news and what name they chose for their baby...

That would be the morning news that I was watching for the traffic reports as I had to drive with the rush hour traffic this am for an appointment.

I apologize for having the bad taste to turn on the morning news for local traffic. I guess we can't all be klassy like you.

I have to confess I'm among those interested in the royal family (mainly, I just want Kate's wardrobe--she can keep her man and her horrid job, thanks anyway.) I haven't heard any nasty graphic details, fortunately, but I will be tuning into the news periodically to see if the little one has arrived.

Local radio and tv stations, where you have to tune in when you need the traffic updates, are notorious for reporting garbage like the stuff you heard so I'm not surprised at all. One exception in our area is NECN, where they manage to keep it classy all the time, but I think this is pretty rare.

Actually, what she was referencing was on the Today show. Dr. Nancy Snyderman, their medical expert, was there talking about cervical thinning, crowning, pushing, etc.

I managed to miss the Today show version of it; I doubt it improved with nationwide exposure.

It suprised me, because I normally really like Nancy.  She's very factual, not dramatic, not "fluff", etc, so her going into that type of explanation seemed out of character for her.

I think the Today show is just as bad as tabloids (and I watch it generally when I am getting ready for work so I'm not looking down on anyone for their tv viewing).  They constantly report enterainment news like it is the same as the rest of the news.  And there are plenty of stories that I wish weren't on when my kids are sitting there eating their breakfast.  I haven't watched it at all this summer so I haven't seen any baby news coverage.
