I have a mud room, too, but until I get the lock on the basement door fixed (it doesn't open with a key from the outside), you have to traipse through the upstairs, and go down there to leave muddy boots and shoes :)

ahh, green with envy! ;-) there's this page of one i tore out of better homes & gardens magazine that i'm saving for our handyman that does smaller jobs for us. i don't think the project would be a very big or difficult one to do.
