The problem with these "reports" is that they are just someone's slant on something in a study, not the actual study. How much of a lag and how long does it last? Did they control for maternal education and other factors? You'd need more information to know whether this was something to be concerned about.

I do not believe they can tell the reason for an early childhood dev. delay even if they are older. But maybe I missed a study or info on that? Just curious.

As with most issues, a generalization simply can't be made here because so much depends on the individual parents and the individual children in question.
