iVillage Flash Poll:

Is it Acceptable For the President to Say Ass in Public?

On the Today show on Tuesday, President Obama used the word “ass” (more specifically, he talked about wanting to “know whose ass to kick” about the Gulf oil spill). And it’s created quite a buzz...

It's more about the inner person, really. But my experience is that attempting to make changes on the outside does help to make actual changes on the inside.

And I sound just like some cheesy infomercial for a self-help book. Just shoot me.

I've never met a "fully Godly" person, but I do know many sincere Christians who try to please God not out of fear, but out of love for him. Legalism doesn't even enter into it.

So basically, you believe that using profanity is a sin not only because of the sentiment behind the words, but also because using profane words (however a society may define them) is a sin in and of itself.

Yes on part A (the sentiment); not so sure on part B (the words themselves being intrinsically bad as defined by society.) I really think it's about the desire to not offend God or others.
