Job Satisfaction

I have seen reports in various news sources talking about a study that states that job satisfaction is a low. The reporters all seem to be surprised at the study. Their thinking is that in a bad economy those that have jobs should be grateful for job satisfaction should be up.

I totally agree with the reasoning that job satisfaction would be down in a bad economy for a few reasons:

1. In a good economy those that are not satisfied with their jobs have more options to change jobs than in a bad economy.

2. Employers know that and can put on more work load etc since it is very unlikely for that employer to leave.

3. Sometime when companies are hurting they will purposely make things harder on employees. It is much better for their bottom line to have someone leave on their own (or with cause) that to have to pay a severance package for layoff.

Your thoughts.

You should have claimed that since job dissatisfaction is not your personal experience, then you disagree that job satisfaction is generally low. Also, do you find your job to be time-consuming, or does your high satisfaction level negate your work hours (if anyone is taking attendance)? Finally, are you in any danger of losing your job, and do you feel that security guards would be effective in helping you keep it? ;-)

I do not have a job but my job satisfaction is very high at the present moment, other than the double standard between me and those who actually have jobs. I find my SAH job too time-consuming to answer surveys about my SAH job satisfaction but my response should nevertheless be included. I am not in any danger of losing my job which some days reduces my job satisfaction temporarily as I cannot leave my non-job even if I wanted to. The temporary decrease is offset and full job satisfaction is restored by my remembering that I don't actually have a job. Having a security guard would help if the security guard would be effective at addressing the double standard, and/or doing some dishes.

How's that?

Cute! It's nice how he's just standing there. My 2 yo ds would jump up in down and within seconds break that dishwasher door clean off. Here's what I could use a security guard for, protecting local property and enforcing breakfast:

Inside this late model used vehicle you will find a full set of scrambled eggs with cheese, a fork, a knife (not usually handed out at breakfast, must have been a thievery), a napkin and a cantaloupe rind.
