This may be my first ever-poll:

1. What was the most boring book you were required to read in school?

2. If you were a wood-boring critter, what kind would you be? (I'm sure some silly person has made an internet quiz to answer this very question, so feel free to use it if you find one. Cheating is allowed in my poll.)

3. In what year did Niels Bohr (yes, I also allow homonyms in my poll) win the Nobel Prize?

4. Have you ever eaten boar meat? Did you enjoy it?

1. What was the most boring book you were required to read in school? -- Oh gee, I don't remember.

2. If you were a wood-boring critter, what kind would you be? (I'm sure some silly person has made an internet quiz to answer this very question, so feel free to use it if you find one. Cheating is allowed in my poll.) -- Red-headed ash borer.

3. In what year did Niels Bohr (yes, I also allow homonyms in my poll) win the Nobel Prize? -- hellifino

4. Have you ever eaten boar meat? Did you enjoy it? -- Yes, I have had wild pig.  If I remember correctly, it was a bit gamey, but mostly enjoyable.

1. What was the most boring book you were required to read in school?

Either The Red Badge of Courage or A Separate Peace.  It's a toss-up.

2. If you were a wood-boring critter, what kind would you be? (I'm sure some silly person has made an internet quiz to answer this very question, so feel free to use it if you find one. Cheating is allowed in my poll.)

A Carpenter Bee.  Just 'cause I know that one off the top of my head.

3. In what year did Niels Bohr (yes, I also allow homonyms in my poll) win the Nobel Prize?

1922.  I google real good.  ;)

4. Have you ever eaten boar meat? Did you enjoy it?

Never tried it.

1. What was the most boring book you were required to read in school? Buddenbrooks, hands down, AND it was in German. Most turgid, mind-numbing bore ever. I was so disappointed, because I otherwise love, love, love Thomas Mann. I have stuck with his short stories ever since.

2. If you were a wood-boring critter, what kind would you be? (I'm sure some silly person has made an internet quiz to answer this very question, so feel free to use it if you find one. Cheating is allowed in my poll.) A wood pecker, the black/white kind with a bright red spot.

3. In what year did Niels Bohr (yes, I also allow homonyms in my poll) win the Nobel Prize? I do not remember, which is embarrassing considering he is Danish and almost a relative (one auntie married to his brother, BBF has a stepmom from the Bohr clan etc).

4. Have you ever eaten boar meat? Did you enjoy it? Yes, and it is very good. An acquaintance farms it and serves it, very proudly, to special guests. It was only terrible the time he served it to a delegation of visiting Israelis, on a Friday afternoon, no less. Thankfully they were secular, but the joke ever since has been to say "Shabbat Shalom" anytime somebody does/says something grossly inappropriate.

1. What was the most boring book you were required to read in school?

Tess of the d'Urbervilles.  ZZZzzzzz

2. If you were a wood-boring critter, what kind would you be? (I'm sure some silly person has made an internet quiz to answer this very question, so feel free to use it if you find one. Cheating is allowed in my poll.)

I've always wanted to do something important, so I'm going to be a wood-boring beetle, which according to Clemson University's website is, after the termite, the most important wood-boring insect in homes.

3. In what year did Niels Bohr (yes, I also allow homonyms in my poll) win the Nobel Prize?

1922.  His son, Aage Niels Bohr, won it in 1975.

4. Have you ever eaten boar meat? Did you enjoy it?

No.

Bonus Answer:  At work, I often receive emails from geotechnical engineers with attachments entitled "Boring Reports".  And every time I think, "Yeah, I bet..."

I'd like to thank you all for participating in my first and, quite possibly, only, poll. Lauren wins the internet today for going the extra mile and reporting not only that Niels Bohr, but also his son, won a Nobel Prize.

1.  Candide by Volatire, shoot me now.

2.  I would like to be a carpenter bee.

3.  Beats me.

4.  Yes, it was good.
