GO FOR IT! I too donated to Locks for Love, just this past summer. My hair was to the middle of my back adn I chopped to just between ears and shoulders. It was soooo freeing! (of course, this was right after xh and I split; when a woman wants to change her life, she starts with her hair.) it was a tough decision, i was constantly being asked by people if my hair was naturally that curly; that they loved it; how lucky i was to have such great hair. Hard to cut something that gets you so noticed. But I did it. And I don't regret it at all.

I personally am a fan of perms. My hair is naturally wavy/slightly curly so i can't do a straight do without massive prep time; time I refuse to spend. I need quick-styling hair styles. Currently, with my perm and cut, I wash, towel dry, sometimes a little mouse and i'm done. Or I put it half up in a clip. 10 min max. And I still get people telling me all the time how beautiful my hair is. Great knowing it doesn't take 30 min to get those compliments.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

Are you going to someone that you trust and is good with your hair? I would just ask her. Personally mine has to be either somewhat short or past my ears and all one length. My hair is curly and, if too short, it curls up and, if too long, looks unkempt.

I think it is really cool that you are donating it. What brought on the desire to cut it? How have your family and friends reacted at the news?
