Marriage equality argument

So the sole argument against marriage equality is that marriage is for procreation? Where exactly does that leave menopausal women? Or men with ED? Or the infertile?

I can not believe we are STILL having this discussion in 2013. I have noticed that it is generational though--many of boomers I know are against it. Gen Xers like myself and younger are generally in favor...

You know Jams, you should just come right out and say that you disapprove b/c your church does. At least that's a point that one can agree to disagree about. Instead you continue to say things that are just unkind and ......

"Moreover, how many gay priests do you think are in the RCC worldwide? Yeah--their stance on homosexuality isn't hypocritical." ----------- But see, that is not fair. The church disapproves only of the conduct not the person. So they can be gay, gay, gay, as long as they don't engage in homosexual acts, see? Ratzinger wore Prada silk slippers ( iwanna be pope too!), for example, but there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't. It would only be a problem if he frequented the, ahem, bath house, for example: http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2013/03/12/the-vaticans-very-convenient-gay-bathhouse/ Now in the Greek church, only the upper hierarchy is celibate. Parish priests are married, the idea being that they should share the life of their flocks, in order to be able to help properly. This is quite intelligent, but does leave the upper echelons almost entirely peopled with gay guys (although nobody seems to mind terribly or make a fuss).

I'm not bragging. I'm stating a fact. My tax burden is greater than yours. I pay a higher percentage of my income which means I give more money to those entitlements that you're whining about. Despite that fact, I am wholeheartedly in favor of equal rights. Because equality isn't an entitlement, it is a basic civil and human right currently denied to American citizens because of their sexual preference. And that is wrong.

Moreover, how many gay priests do you think are in the RCC worldwide? Yeah--their stance on homosexuality isn't hypocritical. At all. <snort> You may not like it, but I'm just calling it like I see it.

WHAT OTHER CHOICE DO YOU OFFER?

If you answered questions and helped clarify some of the posts that people ask about, we'd have a clearer understanding about your views.
