What plans lie ahead for May

Your kid comes home and says s/he wants to be homeschooled.  When you ask why she says because she doesn't like going to school anymore..  What do you do/say.....

If you were granted one wish what would it be

<<What plans lie ahead for May>>

School stuff, sports for the kids and myself, hopefully May flowers and lots of outdoor time!

<<Your kid comes home and says s/he wants to be homeschooled.  When you ask why she says because she doesn't like going to school anymore..  What do you do/say.....>>

I would work to figure out what has changed, what happened in their life to make such a drastic change...

<<If you were granted one wish what would it be>>

To be able to make a lasting and positive contribution to the world.

1.  Work.  Lindsay's birthday is this month and there is Mother's Day with my mom and sisters.  It's also the month when my mil died, so I'll be thinking of her more than usual this month.

2.  The question at my house is asked the other way around.  In either case, the answer, after some more, in-depth discussion, is "if that's what you really want".  And they would have to commit to a full year of classroom.  Unless, it really, really isn't working out after exploring all options.  Then we would pull them out and go back to homeschooling.  Dylan, right now, has no intention of going back to a classroom full time.

3.  Tough one.  Probably more money.  As in getting paid what I'm worth.  I have everything else I want or need.

Despite being part of a great school system,  we are part of a homeschool community of over 300 families that spans several towns and reaches into Chicago. Co-ops classes, and social opportunites abound.  Plus kids are free during the day to get together. Friendships are based on common interests.    I'll answer more in depth about curriculum later. Right now it is in the low 70s and sunny and I am heading out to the deck with my student ot facilitate math, vocabulary, grammar, and history.

What plans lie ahead for May

Looking for a new home.  Blech.

Your kid comes home and says s/he wants to be homeschooled.  When you ask why she says because she doesn't like going to school anymore..  What do you do/say.....

Go find a different mom and then you can be homeschooled. I am not qualified to teach anyone anything, and wouldn't want to try it if I could.  As far as not liking it anymore...we all have to do things we don't like to do, so suck it up.

If you were granted one wish what would it be

I don't think one wish would do it.  A gazillion dollars would take care of a lot of it, but not some of it...so I guess I'd have to go with wishing for a bunch more wishes.

What kind of curriculum do you follow turtlemom? I actually inquired with the state about homeschooling and it's intimidating, The expectations are similar if not identical to what my kid gets at school.  I can understand the conveniences but I don't think I can manage her education the way she gets that at school, I also think it's more isolating b/c her friends are at school. Are you a part of a community of other homeschool families?

What plans lie ahead for May?  Wedding on Saturday, finals week next week, DH and DS finish up on 5/10 and DD is done at the end of the month.

Your kid comes home and says s/he wants to be homeschooled.  When you ask why she says because she doesn't like going to school anymore..  What do you do/say..... I'd ask why she doesn't like going to school anymore.

May is one of my favorite months of the year, Last full month of my kids' school, brother's birthday, breaking out the grill weather, last full week of school myself while I also ponder a Summer course, travels, teacher appreciation week, chaperoning a field trip at DS' school.  May is the month my parents were married and when mom was alive I always remembered them with a card, I still think of them when May comes around.

Thank you bea, Lol.  DD2 threw that by me yesterday - I call her my dreamer but her struggles at school are increasing and I feel her pain.  But no, Educators are far better at their jobs than I (as I push her out the car door!) ;)

I don't know the answer to this one yet...  But it will come to me.....
