Moms who know better than you

Kind of joking there.  But the other day I met a mom who was certain she knew which area schools were the best.  I told her my children are happily in public school, but upon entering middle school and/or upon entering 8th grade, if any of mine wants, then we'll take a tour of all of the schools in the area ~ private, several Catholic.  Not a Catholic, lol, she told me unequivocally that, yes, I needed to take my children on a tour of the local Catholic schools NOW because they are the best schools in the area.  Because of course her kids went there.   Her children graduated from high school long ago, but I never quite got my answer on what they were all doing now.  Wink

Anyway, the "conversation" (monologue?) continued until my friend saw me cornered.  Has this kind of thing happened to you ~ older mom telling you how to do it better?  How do you handle moms with children older than yours who are a little too liberal and pushy with their advices?  ....Have you ever been that mom?

<<Yes, around my neighborhood or on the track. No, no trees in the parks in walking distance or close to drive to that I would walk around. Mostly things for the kids to play on and sports things. >>

No trees in the local park?  I thought this was a really great area with lots of things in walking distance and you don't even have a simple park with trees within walking distance?

Yes, stores, I have explained this before and I HAVE explained about the amount of parks in walking distance before.

<<Not sure why it is MY responsibility to go back and look for things I know I posted. You want to see them, do the research. They are there.>>

I didn't say it was, I just said I don't believe you that they are there.  shrug.

That is your belief then. They ARE there. You just don't want to go and look for them. Your loss. Shrug.

<<Neither do I nor I said they should be or that mine my memories include money. >>

Yet, there are 100s of your comments that say otherwise.

As an adult you realize that most things you do require money.

Free AND involve the whole family.  I don't know if you saw me re-post one of Bord's quotes from yesterday.  But all along it's been about the entire family and having fun/making memories.

But if we go back to discussing fun for the entire family, our good boardies here couldn't posture and make this all about how superior they are for not having the money you have.  Heavy sigh.

<<As a kid, I didn't care about the cost, just as I am sure my kids don't care now. As an adult, you realize that almost everything comes with a cost.>>

No, only some adults realize that...many know that there are many free memories.

<<I played outside as a kid too. Riding a bike is play, but it is not free for the bike. But again, as a child you don't realize that. An adult only realizes that now when they are the ones paying for things.>>

I wasn't talking riding a bike, I know bikes cost money.  I was talking about playing outside, one doesn't need things to play outside.

Yep my dd doesn't do some things with us anymore as she is not interested in them. She is older and would rather spend time at home or with her friends.

But if we go back to discussing fun for the entire family, our good boardies here couldn't posture and make this all about how superior they are for not having the money you have.  Heavy sigh.

And since other threads have said how the entire family can't find much time to get together anymore for older kids working and having cars, I find it amazing now that everyone does everything together all the time and it is TOTALLY free when they do it. lol

That's really a bummer, I can't imagine being so far away from parks with trees.

<<That is your belief then. They ARE there. You just don't want to go and look for them. Your loss. Shrug.>

Well yes, that's what I said.  Again, I went and looked for them, did you not read my posts?

<<As an adult you realize that most things you do require money. >>

I don't know about that, I know that you think that way but that really doesn't have a thing to do with my comment about memories.

No, many don't think about it and realize that.

Again, it depends on what you are playing with outside. I went through this already with Bord and Badmitton.

Well you responded to the question, I wouldn't call it answering the question but I can understand why you would think so.

<<No, many don't think about it and realize that.>>

Why is that you think you can speak for many in regarding memories of others?

<<Again, it depends on what you are playing with outside. I went through this already with Bord and Badmitton.<<

You didn't read my post, I said one doesn't need things to play with outside, you mentioned things.
