Moms who know better than you
Find a Conversation

Kind of joking there. But the other day I met a mom who was certain she knew which area schools were the best. I told her my children are happily in public school, but upon entering middle school and/or upon entering 8th grade, if any of mine wants, then we'll take a tour of all of the schools in the area ~ private, several Catholic. Not a Catholic, lol, she told me unequivocally that, yes, I needed to take my children on a tour of the local Catholic schools NOW because they are the best schools in the area. Because of course her kids went there. Her children graduated from high school long ago, but I never quite got my answer on what they were all doing now.
Anyway, the "conversation" (monologue?) continued until my friend saw me cornered. Has this kind of thing happened to you ~ older mom telling you how to do it better? How do you handle moms with children older than yours who are a little too liberal and pushy with their advices? ....Have you ever been that mom?

For free? FINALLY. An example of something you can do free with your kids. See? Those opportuntities DO exist! Thank you for agreeing with me and proving my point.

<<I don't read PKA's posts for obvious reasons. Just the bits you quote. >>
This might explain why your posts in this thread are pointless.
<<What's supposedly wrong with doing things that cost money since you have the money? >>
Absolutely nothing. And nothing I've stated in this thread indicates I think otherwise.

If I had no money, I too would say there's something wrong with you - and your children I guess (nice, no?) - because you don't enjoy raking leaves and skipping down the town's bike paths for FREE.
Oh, but didn't you state earlier in this thread that church wasn't free because you put money in the offering plate????

Yeah, cause that's what PKA and I have been saying. NOT.
Gee, where is No-body when you need him/her?

Ermahgerd. My children hanging out with tweens costs money too! Obviously, Halloween. 'Nuf said. But recently a half day from school meant I had a car full of children and I sure wasn't going to try to decipher what kind of lunches each would want. So, off to the local burger place. THAT was a lot of money by the standards of people who think everything can be gotten free! Home to my house, our tennis court, our trampoline, other "toys." I know some day their pals' moms will do the same (as they've done in the past too).
But really, to have a gaggle of kids over to our house on a half day for cheese sandwiches, no snacks and playing cards for FREE?? Not gonna happen!
Yep but no one else sees that. Maybe they are THOSE parents who do those type of things and that is why they don't get why things require money.

Ummm...I said that in this thread. You and PKA just didn't want to go and look for it. Sigh...

Sigh...... It was "free" (in the sense)
Why do you care so much if an East Coast museum costs money to visit? I could go to the St. Louis Museum free, but there's nothing to see there!
Oh but examples of baking cookies or of riding a bike or reading a book aren't free ... whatever.
