Kind of joking there.  But the other day I met a mom who was certain she knew which area schools were the best.  I told her my children are happily in public school, but upon entering middle school and/or upon entering 8th grade, if any of mine wants, then we'll take a tour of all of the schools in the area ~ private, several Catholic.  Not a Catholic, lol, she told me unequivocally that, yes, I needed to take my children on a tour of the local Catholic schools NOW because they are the best schools in the area.  Because of course her kids went there.   Her children graduated from high school long ago, but I never quite got my answer on what they were all doing now.  Wink

Anyway, the "conversation" (monologue?) continued until my friend saw me cornered.  Has this kind of thing happened to you ~ older mom telling you how to do it better?  How do you handle moms with children older than yours who are a little too liberal and pushy with their advices?  ....Have you ever been that mom?

Homecoming to watch hours of football (none of my kids are even allowed to play that inherently dangerous sport) which my kids do not enjoy watching, just so DH could enjoy watching a game and so we could spend 18 minutes watching the oldest kid play in the marching band is neither fun nor a bonding family experience.  And as I've said, as a taxpayer, it's certainly not free!!

Well I have to disagree with you there with the hours of watching football and I don't even have a kid on the team lol. This is something my ds and I enjoy to do together. My dd would rather go to hang out with her friends or talk (which is a big NO NO for me when I watch football lol). BUT....even though our games are free to go to, there is still things I spend money on. Is this a memory for my ds and I, yes. Is it a TOTALLY free memory, nope as well as many other things we do together.

Leaves.  We've always hired people to rake the leaves.  They don't enjoy it either because they don't do it free.  Sadly, they only rake leaves because they are being paid.  Heavy sigh.

Oh no, morty knocked that one too...she needs to pay for bags for those leaves.  A family can't have fun raking and playing in the leaves according to morty as a free activity, it costs money don't you know.  Her memories are tied to money.

No I indicated that, that too, has money tied in with it, NOT the memories.

I loved playing in the leaves as a kid, so did mine, lol.  I'm sorry that your and mortys kids are missing out on leaf piles.

I never considered playing in the leaves as fun. lol. If a pile is being made, it is to clean it up. As an adult all I can think about is the nasty bugs in them and the double amount of work to do to get the job done. One or 2 jumpings, sure, all day, no.

Read...the...posts.  {{snort!}}  You're so uppity from the East Coast and all, of course you don't enjoy a family activity unless it 1.) costs money and 2.) costs lots of money.

*Sarcasm alert*

I guess so. I did give some "free" examples but those were lost as I am being told I am just disagreeing. Maybe because there is so little amount of things that are truly free, it is hard to find in this big, ridiculous thread.

lol. We only have 3 trees so it is not too bad. My ds helped us last year to do them but it was work. There is a reason why you rake them, to get rid of them.

I did and since you haven't repeated them or gone back to cut/paste them to prove me wrong, I'll stick with you didn't post any, that seems way more logical than believing you that you posted them.  I'm sorry that the majority of your memories are tied to money, unless of coures that makes you happy...then can you explain why you look at memories and think money?

Why do "I" have to go back and cut and paste? YOU want to know what I said. Go and look for them.

It wasn't done before you purchased the house, you had to do it with your own money, it was a burden...based on your logic.  It wasn't a burden in reality, but only in your logic.
