1. Will you be shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

2. "5 months of bills...." as the song says. Do you have a budget for the holidays or do you have "5 months of bills..."?

3. What is one food that most people make for Thanksgiving that you do not like?

4. Do you dress up for Thanksgiving?

That depends on your washer. My washer "weighs and measures" the amount of clothes in the washer and determines the amount of time it will take to wash.

I think you are missing the point. I have never said people should deny the child's interests. To the contrary, I think it is silly that if a child is interested in activities that are not the typical childish activities, we should prohibit them from safely exploring that interest and instead hold them back into childish activities to keep them from growing up too fast.

The way I figure it, the kids' needs come first. Then my and DH's needs. Then the kids' and our wants. I seriously doubt that SavCal's need to exercise or volunteer come before her kids' needs. And she has said that in the past, when she was unable to exercise, volunteer, and meet her kids' needs, she stopped doing those things. Just because you can't figure out how to exercise or volunteer without neglecting your kids' needs, doesn't mean the same is true for SavCal.

I would think I would get used to a cleaning service and probably love it as it would give me more time to do things with my family. Why did you quit the service?

Good. We agree.

My theory is that everyone's NEEDS get met. EVERYONE's.

But no one's WANTS get met if there are unmet NEEDS. Needs come first.

I have rarely - rarely - come across a situation in which the needs of two family members conflict. When it happens, it's examined carefully before proceeding.

Now, it does happen quite often that one family member's needs are in conflict with another's wants. In nthat case, the needs are met before the wants.

And it also happens quite often that one member's wants conflict with another's wants. Again, it's examined carefully to determine how it is resolved. Often it's a "take turns" thing. Or based upon whose are easier to meet.

Okay. But there's nothing for my family to realize.

Ehh, I think it's a pretty negligible time difference.

Because I don't want to do it.

Does your dh ever say that about any chores?
