1. Will you be shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
2. "5 months of bills...." as the song says. Do you have a budget for the holidays or do you have "5 months of bills..."?
3. What is one food that most people make for Thanksgiving that you do not like?
4. Do you dress up for Thanksgiving?

But it doesn't stop them from doing it when they do leave home. Again, speaking directly from experience.
We usually have that many for Easter.
I think the philosophy is a variation of 'life's a bitch, and then you die." The idea is that adult life is a bitch of drudgery, responsibility, stress and worry. Therefore good parents should try to create some kind of la-la land for their kids, so that the kids have at least a few good years, the memories of which will hopefully sustain them through the "bitch."
I do agree BUT I don't think that people who don't learn certain things before they leave home are useless when they go out on their own and can't figure things out on their own. I never did laundry before I moved out. I had no problem doing it right away. I barely cooked, had no problem cooking and setting up a kitchen. I never did deep cleaning, some dusting and vacuuming of my room was about it. I had no problem cleaning our apt. I did do bills before I left the house so I just continued with just different bills to have to pay.
Therefore, it can be very helpful for one to learn to cook before leaving the parental home.

I don't agree as I didn't really have to learn to do things, I just did them. Even adults go through trial and errors with cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. I don't think learning stops once you are 18 or move out of your home. It continues throughout your life and I am sure there are things you do differently now that you did not do when you first moved out of your home.
