1. Will you be shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

2. "5 months of bills...." as the song says. Do you have a budget for the holidays or do you have "5 months of bills..."?

3. What is one food that most people make for Thanksgiving that you do not like?

4. Do you dress up for Thanksgiving?

Why? Where were your parents that they made you do things at such an early age?

Yep. It is being a kid. Seems like many parents feel you go from toddler to adult and "poo poo" the ideas of any type of marketing to kids and them enjoying these things as kids. Hey, even adults like to play with some kids toys, like easy bake as it reminds them of their own childhood.

I guess, again, some adults never got to enjoy a childhood and don't have that "child" still in them now. Sad :(

Didn't your kids read by the age of 2 and make dinner for the family by the age of 3??--bawwahhaaa!!

I wonder what these parents are doing that they "need" to teach their kids at such young ages to do "adult" things. What is more important than taking care of your family?

AND??? It doesn't mean the child NEEDS to have everything they see or even ANYTHING.

What I do not agree with is, when a child expresses an interest in learning a skill, restricting them to inferior, "pretend" products in middle childhood and beyond.

WHERE was this ever said and what middle schooler do you know plays with these "pretend" toys on a regular basis?

Yeah or because it is a messageboard, no one "really" knows what goes on behind closed doors ;)

Childhood is not a race, but neither is it a state of suspended animation where the goal should be to keep the little angels both innocent and ignorant as long as possible.

Exactly, that is why I don't limit the places they see or hear "merchandising" advertisements.

I don't think you read her post correctly, for she said that her children will reject the cheap plastic toy imitations in favor of "real things."
