1. Will you be shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

2. "5 months of bills...." as the song says. Do you have a budget for the holidays or do you have "5 months of bills..."?

3. What is one food that most people make for Thanksgiving that you do not like?

4. Do you dress up for Thanksgiving?

Well, the sex and alcohol alone make it better ... :)

I never thought of laundry to take up much time (and it has gotten sooo much easier with my new washer and dryer-lol!!). You take a load, put it in the washer. Hear the bell ring, put it in the dryer. Fold the clothes (I don't know where you fold your clothes but I do it in my livingroom where the rest of my family is at. Put away the clothes. That doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes.

Bawwahhhaaa!! Yeah, having to go to work, responsibilities of a home, family, etc. is soooo much better than childhood. Enough to want your children to do it earlier than needed. Gotcha.

Dh does most of the laundry. It will take, all told, 7-8 hours on a weekend. During some of that time, he can be doing other things ... but it's way more than 5-10 minutes.

I won't ask my kids ddaily to pickup or put away their clothes. They're old enough to do it without my asking. We tell them to bring their clothes to the sorter when dh starts the laundry each weekend. Anything that doesn't make it in is their responsibility.

yes, I'm her mother ... but I'm not her slave.

I don't think anyone has said that your 6 year old must know how to bake by himself or be doomed to a life not knowing how to bake. I would say though that by the age of 12 or 13, most kids should know how to make a basic cookie recipe on their own. As for laundry and other chores, I think most parents expect their kids to take on some responsibilities around the house as they get older. I started doing my own laundry at 13-- mostly because I complained about having to bring the laundry down from my bedroom for my mom to do a few too many times. At 8-10 or so, I was in charge of sweeping the floor after dinner. At 10-18, my job was dishes after dinner. It's nice that your mom did all of that for you, but I think it's rather unusual for parents not to expect their kids to do some chores around the house as they get older.
