What separates private school from public school IYO?

What school memories stand out about your own schooling?  Did you attend public schools or "private"?

What did you want to be when you grew up?

As a side, What's your weather like today? :)

What separates private school from public school IYO?

One of my best gf's went to a Catholic private school at the same time I went to public, graduated the same year. The only difference I saw was that her parents paid for her education besides the normal school taxes they paid and she had a lot more work to do than we did, but the same exact things were being taught.

What school memories stand out about your own schooling?  Did you attend public schools or "private"?

Soooo many memories. I am glad that my kids go to the same schools as I get to relive the memories. All public.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I think a teacher.

As a side, What's your weather like today? :)

Beautiful, 80 but a little humid

1. Public schooling is run by the state, and private schooling is not. 2. I went to public schools except for kindergarten. Kindergarten wasn't part of the public schools in the state I was living in in 1961, and my parents wanted me to go to school at 5, so they sent me to a private kindergarten. Mostly I remember teachers, both the very good ones and the very bad ones. 3. A nurse, or a lawyer, or a United States Senator. 4. Don't know, haven't looked outside yet.

1.  Private schools do not get public funding, nor do their teachers have to meet governmental standards.  Private schools are not subject to NCLB and they can hand pick their students, thus limiting or eliminating any need to cater to special needs.  This doesn't mean they DO limit or exclude, simply that they have the absolute right to do so and the parents have no legal recourse should they do so.  Public schools, in the absence of a child who has been expelled, MUST take all students within their assigned district without regard to special need or other accommodations.

2. No memories of any interest to anyone who isn't someone else who attended my schools.  I attended public schools, both in the US and with the military overseas.

3. A ballerina, stewardess, truck driver.

4. It's very nice, but cloudy enough that if it rains today I won't fall over dead from the shock of it.

What separates private school from public school IYO?

Private school can select the students it wishes to serve, public schools can not.

What school memories stand out about your own schooling?  Did you attend public schools or "private"?

I attended parochial schools. My elementary and middle schools were substandard, and my high school was excellent

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A librarian

As a side, What's your weather like today? :)

Mid 70s, sunny with T-storms expected later.

What separates private school from public school IYO?  One you pay for and one you don't.  There are some private schools that are better than some public schools, and there are some public schools that are better than some private schools.  And sometimes what's better depends on the kid.

What school memories stand out about your own schooling?  Did you attend public schools or "private"?  I attended public schools.  At this time of year, I remember all of the trips to amusement parks with the band.

What did you want to be when you grew up?  It varied.  When I was in high school, I wanted to be a pediatric oncologist.

As a side, What's your weather like today? Isolated thunderstorms during the morning hours, then skies turning partly cloudy during the afternoon. High 81F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

I do not know exactly what you mean by what seperates them but since public schools cannot turn away students and often are working with a smaller budget they can have a lot harder struggle taking care of everyone's needs, especially those that do not fit the norm.

I attended public schools.  Too many memories over 13 years to pick out a couple.

I had no idea what I think was part of the reason I joined the Air Force.  The job that I have now was not even something I would have given a thought to when I was a kid but it is a good fit for me.

High about 97, pretty normal for this time of year,  Just enjoying what we can before we hit the triple digits.
