1. How long is/was your child's school day (minus any after school activities)?

2. Who are you rooting for in the Superbowl?

3. What did you have for breakfast today?

Let me clarify - school hours are 7 hours, including lunch. However, The Girl only goes 5.5, as she has a college release last hour. She has a 1.5 hour college class on TR. She also goes to school 2 hours early for Winterguard practice.

Just checked local schools web sites.   Elementary school is 7 hours,   7:45-2:45.   Middle school is 7,5 hours,  8:00 to 3:30.   High school is 7 hours,  9:05-4:05.

High school does block scheduling.  4 classes per day, rotating beween A day schedule and B day schedule for a total of 8 classes.  Most seniors only need 6 classes to meet graduation requirements so get off early.

Rotating beween A day schedule and B day schedule

We have that too at the middle and high school, always have. They usually switch the classes between gym and electives.

We have a truly block schedule. 4 classes each semester.

Does that mean only 4 subjects?

Yes. They cover a traditional year of work in a semester. Very similar to the way college classes work.

I asked if you had a block schedule, you said no.  I asked you if they had 8, 40 minute classes each day, you corrected me and said 42 minutes.  Now you are saying they rotate classes between the days and don't have 8 classes a day?

Um..no. Everyday is 8 periods. Classes change on a and b days, not all, only 2. My dd's are gym and health that changes.

They have 4 subjects per semester - 8 per year. Same as if you had 8 per smester but each lasted a year.   They actually have 95 minutes of instruction time per class per semester - same as if they had 42 minutes times 2 semesters.  Actually, our kids, with the block schedule have MORE instruction time per class than yours do.
