1. How long is/was your child's school day (minus any after school activities)?

2. Who are you rooting for in the Superbowl?

3. What did you have for breakfast today?

I don't think a teaspoon of sugar is going to affect a generally healthy lifestyle one way or another. I just don't like sweetened cereal. If I did, I'd add the sugar. I didn't see any point introducing the kids to the idea of sweetening cereal, either. They find out these things soon enough.

You rkids were buying the candy cereal themselves?  At what age and with what money?

No, my kids were not buying their own cereal in elementary school.

"I sprinkle sugar on cereal, yes. You don't?" -------- No, never have. I prefer cereals that do not have any sugar added to begin with. Corn flakes, for example, are way too sweet for my taste.

I was 1/2 joking about the sugar. My favorite cereal is honeynut cheerios and it's sweet enough.

I haven't bought rice krispies in years but I'm thinking that falls along the same lines as a special k - both have little sugar and a tsp of sugar makes it taste better TO ME, second to bananas!

Rice Krispies doesn't have much sugar. I add sugar too.

Sure there are overweight kids in band.  Just like in football or PE.

So you wouldn't find that PE would be an extra good thing for them then?

1. How long is/was your child's school day (minus any after school activities)?

The regular school day was 7.5 hours, with a 25-minute lunch break.  They had block scheduling throughout both middle school and high school.  Joel had an extra class (not an extracurricular, but a for-credit class) in the mornings in 10th, 11th and 12th grades.  He left home at 6:05 and got back at around 4:00.  The last 2 years, he also transported between two schools each day.  His schedule made me tired.LOL

There's a Superbowl coming up?  ;)

3. What did you have for breakfast today?

Plain yogurt with dried cranberries and flax seeds.

Right, And a little shout out for PE teachers too. Just like I'd want a teacher that knows math to teach math I'd rather my kid be in PE for 50 minutes with an instructor that knows about physical fitness too, To call band (or whatever other extra) an alternative is stupid but I do think PE is a state by state thing, NY is very good about well rounded curriculums.
