I think our first was a Dell. We have an HP now but would love to get a Mac. It works for what we need though so if it ain't broken, don't fix it. lol.

But he did not call it the Internet Macintosh.  He called it the iMac.  That is its name.  It's not a shortened version of anything.

Imagine my grandmother's name was Margaret and in her honor, my parents named me Maggie.  Just Maggie.  In that case, Maggie would be my name, regardless of what it was originally based on.  Just like what happened with the iMac.

"That is what my cat is named after. And that in particular is what makes it geeky. :)" ---------- Just as I figured :D We had a Macintosh at the office and we thought that machine was downright magical, lol.

Ummm, I bet we have one of those (although a later model) in our storage unit.  Sigh.

Yes everyone knows that Mac is a shortened version of Macintosh.  But she didn't name her cat Mac and she has every right to name her can Macintosh or any other thing.  You do have the right to tell her how ridicilous it is that she didn't name it the shortened version of the product, but why do you care and why do you spend 20 posts telling her it should be a Mac because everybody calls it that?  Why isn't the fact that she liked the name Macintosh good enough reason to name it Macintosh without you tellihg and/or implying she is wrong?  Typing this post out is exactly like arguing with my 13 year old.  Because then she will say...but I didn't say she was wrong.  Should I point out what a waste of time and patiience it is arguing with  my 13 year old?  Enough said.

Have I and many others not acknowledged that?  iMac, however, is the legal copyrighted name of that particular product.

Sometimes I can't tell if you're deliberately trying to be obtuse or if it's just a natural talent.

Littlemiss...I said "I" would call it that. I never said that she HAD to name it that. I was joking how macintosh (as in computer) is abbreviated to Mac. lol
