"That is what my cat is named after. And that in particular is what makes it geeky. :)" ---------- Just as I figured :D We had a Macintosh at the office and we thought that machine was downright magical, lol.

But he did not call it the Internet Macintosh.  He called it the iMac.  That is its name.  It's not a shortened version of anything.

Imagine my grandmother's name was Margaret and in her honor, my parents named me Maggie.  Just Maggie.  In that case, Maggie would be my name, regardless of what it was originally based on.  Just like what happened with the iMac.

Our first computer was a hewlett packard and we still have it althought its inoperable now, I don't think we've ever owned an apple.  DH has a gateway I think and my laptop is a school computer, "lenovo" which is some cheap model!

I just never thought of automatically connecting it to a computer

That's not hard to see.  I actually spell it a little bit wrong...I can't stand not having the "I" capitalized, so I capitalize it.  That does make it seem more like a family name than automatically a computer name.

[Of course it is. But the iMac isNOTshort for iMacintosh. iMac is the actual name.]....... http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/618-what-does-the-i-in-ipod-iphone-and-ipad-stand-for.html When Apple debuted its first i-product – the iMac – Steve Jobs, Apple’s co-founder and CEO, said it was “the marriage of the excitement of the Internet with the simplicity of Macintosh,” hence the “i” for Internet and the “Mac” for Macintosh.

DD2 has one skirt like it, But like the very short shorts she wears these stretchy black spandex shorts underneath.
